My husband wants rejoin the army after being let out for depression?

He was in several years ago and had just finished basic, but he was lonely and in a different place in his life and a terrible(suicidal tendencies) girl friend at the time. He and I are considering this as an option but not sure if it can happen at all. We have one child 5 months old and the job market is terrible. This was like in 2004 or something(not sure of year). Can someone please let me know if he can rejoin. He was never officially diagnosed but they didn't want to take any chances I guess. Please let me know thanks.
