Is it normal for a guyfriend to do this?

It seems to me that he likes you, but he's confused as to where he stands with you. He might be trying to analyze his feelings for you before making a drastic move. He might also be worried that your awesome friendship will be compromised if you try to be more than friends. Some of the things he is saying to you almost seem like tests to see how you will react. Him saying that you’re the cutest girl he has ever met and then saying jk is a way for him to tell you you’re cute, but to also have an exit strategy if that is an unacceptable compliment for him to be giving you. I think he’s trying to figure out how you feel about him before crossing that friend line.
